One of the great advantages of the European Union (EU) has been the elimination of requiring Americans to have a Visa to travel there. Just a few days ago the European Parliament called on the EU to reinstate visa requirements for Americans traveling to Europe. Has the EU lost its mind? The continent is breaking up with the recent Brexit, the currency (EURO) is in the dumps, terrorism is on the front page of the newspapers, and a handful of additional countries want to jump ship from the EU like rats jumping from a sinking ship. So now the European Parliament wants to make it even harder for Americans to visit and spend our money. Despite all the saber rattling I don’t think the EU will follow through with this veiled threat. I hope cooler heads will prevail and this proposal to require Visas for Americans will die a fast death.

Huge travel sale to Europe this week –
Seems like many of the European and Middle East Airlines are seeing their sales soften this spring and summer and are trying to stimulate sales with a good old- fashioned airfare sale. Airfares are usually the highest to Europe during the busy summer months of June, July and August ranging between $1100 and $1600 RT. This sale offers prices under $1000 to many cities. The best prices are from hub cities like Chicago, New York, Atlanta, etc. Most of the best airfare prices are for coach seats however even business class seats in some markets offer great discounts. Cuba really surprised me last week –
This past week I spent the week traveling on a people-to-people tour of Cuba. I must admit that I was prepared to be underwhelmed on the trip. But I must say that it was an amazing tour and one that I would highly recommend to almost everyone. To put it plainly, I had a blast. The people are great, the food is good, their music is enchanting, their artwork is so expressive and the history is enlightening. Bottom line: put Cuba on your travel bucket list.

I was sitting in the airport in Miami on Sunday and the Delta rep at the next gate announced they had attached RFID tags to everyone’s luggage so travelers could track their luggage using the Delta App. Wow how cool is that! CLICK HERE to read a nice article about how it works.
