Great News! – Better get ready to rumble as my crystal ball says that travel reservations around the world will jump soon as international travel opens up in November

Travel around the world will soon be making a strong jump forward in the coming weeks as international travel opens back up in November. The CDC is also showing a weekly decline in COVID hospitalizations and it appears we may have finally reached a point where travel optimism is about to explode with new reservations this winter and beyond.

Here is my 5 point action plan to take advantage of this great travel window of opportunity:

Action point 1 – Use your frequent flyer miles now – Airlines have plenty of empty seats and are trying to fill them up. Now you can take advantage of getting a good bang for your frequent flyer miles. There appear to be a lot of international coach seats available this winter and into next year.

Action point 2 – Take advantage of low airfares to reserve flights this fall and winter – The airlines continue to offer great prices for travel this year and into 2022. One good thing that came out of the pandemic was many airlines eliminated the $200 change fee which allows you to change your flights without the added cost if you need to change your travel dates later on. Basically, lock in low fares now and you have the best of both worlds.

Action point 3 – Lock in hotel reservations now before the next wave of travel reservations moves prices upward – The Delta variant of COVID quickly slowed down the travel industry for a second time. Hotels continue to be hit by soft demand going into their low season. This means great prices can be locked in now. For the most flexibility, you may want to pay a few dollars more and avoid the lowest pre-paid prices as those are use it or lose it and you are out of luck if you need to change or cancel.

Action point 4 – Don’t forget to book your car reservation early – We have been warning people for months that there is a serious shortage of car reservations as during COVID the car rental companies sold off their fleets and some have not been able to replenish them with new cars as the car manufacturers are short parts and can’t build new cars fast enough.

Action point 5 – Find a good travel advisor – The professional travel advisor is making a giant come back as people are rediscovering all the ways they help them take all the hassle out of travel and help you find great travel values around the globe.  If you thought travel before COVID could be complicated, the new world of travel now requires the complexity of masks, vaccinations, visas, travel passports, and testing.
