Delta Launches New Delta Business Site

Delta Air Lines has launched the new Delta Business site that will replace the Delta Professional platform, the carrier announced Tuesday. The new site, which Delta previewed last August, will roll out to customers through February. Delta managing director of sales and distribution innovation Sara Reid, who demoed the platform for BTN, said some of the platform travel agency functionality will be developed through 2026. American Airlines is still reeling from Sunday’s winter storm

American Airlines, which has canceled the most flights of any airline due to Winter Storm Fern, expects two more days of affected operations. “The impact of the storm is as significant as we’ve ever seen at American,” CEO Robert Isom said during the carrier’s Q4 earnings call Tuesday. As of 1 p.m. Eastern time, American had canceled 881 mainline flights, amounting to 30% of its schedule. American, including its network of regional American Eagle flights, accounted for the majority of the 1,800-plus U.S. flight cancellations for the day, FlightAware data shows. Read More…

 

 

Delta Air Lines Adds Extra Flights to Super Bowl From Boston and Seattle

Football fans will now have access to extra airlift if they plan to head to the biggest game of the year, thanks to Delta Air Lines. The carrier has announced a lineup of special early February flights to the San Francisco Bay Area from Boston and Seattle, the two cities facing off in this year’s Super Bowl. The Super Bowl will take place on February 8 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, just outside San Francisco, where the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots will square off for the championship title. Read More… 

 

 

 

American, United Duke It Out in Chicago Gate Feud

On recent quarterly earnings calls for American Airlines and United Airlines, there was a lot of talk about Chicago O’Hare International Airport, where each carrier recently announced significant new routes and expanded service. Why the sudden interest in the Windy City, where United is based and where American has a hub? It started last year when the City of Chicago took five O’Hare gates away from American and gave them to United. Gates at the airport are reallocated based on the number of flights each carrier flew in the prior year.
