Delta places order for 30 Boeing 787 Dreamliners

Delta has ordered its first Boeing 787 Dreamliners. Deliveries of the 787-10, the largest Dreamliner variant, are expected to begin in 2031. The airline ordered 30 Dreamliners and secured options for 30 more, with CEO Ed Bastian saying the planes would “enhance our international network, deliver superior economics and expand our long-haul capabilities.” Delta will further diversify its widebody fleet with the 787-10. Lufthansa Group to roll out free WiFi

Lufthansa Group airlines will begin rolling out free WiFi in the second half of this year. The WiFi, to be powered by Starlink, will be free to all flyers with status in Lufthansa Group’s Miles & More frequent flyer program. It will also be free to any Miles & More members who registers for the group’s digital Travel ID program, which stores a person’s personal data, payment details and travel documents for all 10 Lufthansa Group brands in one place, accessible by a single log-in. Read More…

Allegiant to acquire Sun Country for $1.5 billion

Las Vegas-based Allegiant Air has reached an agreement to purchase Sun Country Airlines for $1.5 billion. The merger, if approved by federal antitrust regulators, would bring together the Minneapolis-centric network of Sun Country with Allegiant’s broader leisure network, combining Allegiant’s 551 routes with Sun Country’s 105. Rome tourists will have to pay to get up close to the Trevi Fountain next year. Authorities say the goal is to stop tourists from “eating ice cream or pizza on a monument that deserves the proper respect.” Visitors to Rome’s Trevi Fountain will soon have to pay a fee to get up close to the iconic monument. Starting on 1 February 2026, the Italian capital is introducing €2 tickets for tourists to descend the steps to the area around the water-filled basin – from where it is customary to toss a coin into the fountain.
