It’s pretty hard to run out for a cup of coffee when you’re 30,000 feet up in the air. However, some airline passengers seem willing to take that leap, given all the horror stories we’re hearing about airplane java, which is allegedly so bad that frequent fliers may want to join the mild dive club. American Airlines has developed a new corporate loyalty program geared toward small and midsize companies, the carrier announced Monday. Dubbed AAdvantage Business, it allows both eligible enterprises and their travelers to earn reward miles and loyalty points for booked business travel on an American direct channel, such as its website or mobile app. As a result of the new offering, the carrier will sunset its predecessor, the Business Extra program. Southwest Airlines in 2024 will lower the number of flights or points required to earn preferred status in its Rapid Rewards loyalty program, the carrier announced Monday. Effective Jan. 1, Southwest will require program members to fly on 20 one-way flights, down from the current 25. They also can attain such status by compiling 35,000 tier qualifying points. Additionally, travelers next year can attain A-List Preferred status by flying 40 one-way flights, down from the current 50, or compiling 70,000 tier qualifying points. Read More…
