Here is a list of the Top 20 international and domestic destinations people are planning to travel to this summer
Our good friends at Google put out a list of the top destinations that people research airfares from the United States for travel during the months of June, July and August of 2024. CLICK HERE for more.
No surprises as New York City, Orlando and Las Vegas continue at the top of the domestic list – These three cities continue to be the top cities people research to travel to during the summer months of June, July and August. I can’t imagine wanting to visit Las Vegas in the 120-degree heat in the summer months. The top domestic destinations for travel this summer include:
#1 Dom. (domestically) #5 Int. (internationally) New York City
#2 (7 Int.) Orlando
#3 (8 Int.) Las Vegas
#4 (9 Int.) Seattle
#5 (11 Int.) Las Angeles
#6 (12 Int.) Miami
#7 (15 Int.) Fort Lauderdale
#8 (16 Int.) Honolulu
#9 (17 Int.) Denver
#10 (19 Int.) Boston
Here are my takeaways from the list of Top 10 domestic cities researched on Google – CLICK HERE to hear Steve and Paul discuss more.
Takeaway #1 – San Francisco is the big loser this year – They have fallen out of the top ten list of domestic cities people are researching on Google for summer travel.
Takeaway #2 – Eight of the ten largest cities by population did not make the list. They include: Chicago, Houston, Phoenix, Philadelphia, San Antonio, San Diego, Dallas and Jacksonville.
Takeaway #3 – Why did San Diego not make the list? Perfect weather and fun city! I understand why the hot summer heat keeps people from traveling to Phoenix, Dallas and San Antonio in the summer. Philly is hot and humid. Chicago is messy and hot and who even thinks of Jacksonville as a destination?
Top 4 international destinations are London, Paris, Tokyo and Rome – I am surprised that Tokyo has come back so strong this year.
Here is the list of the Top 10 international destinations for summer 2024 travel –
#1. International destination (#1 worldwide) London
#2. (#2 worldwide) Paris
#3. (#3 worldwide) Tokyo
#4. (#4 worldwide) Rome
#5. (#6 worldwide) Cancun
#6. (#10 worldwide) Athens
#7. (#13 worldwide) Barcelona
#8. (#14 worldwide) Dublin
#9. (#18 worldwide) Madrid
#10 (#20 worldwide) San Juan
Takeaway #1 – Cancun is the big loser on this list – They have fallen all the way to #6 from #2 in past years.
Takeaway # 2 – No surprise that Paris is big – The 2024 Summer Olympics is consuming “The City of Light”.
Takeaway #3 – It does not seem that any new cities broke into what I would call the “Top of the bucket list”. I would have expected cities like Vienna, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Amsterdam, and Prague to slip onto the summer list in the future.
